Description

The Initial Deployment Kitchen (IDK) is a rapidly deployable, mobile, fully self-sustaining, kitchen capable of preparing a minimum of 500 meals, twice a day. The kitchen includes an array of electrically powered food preparation equipment assembled in an expandable single-sided tactical shelter (MIL-S-44197). In the stored mode, the kitchen collapses into a standard ISO container for shipment, and expands to nearly twice its packed volume for food preparation. The transition from shipment mode to operational mode includes locating mobile appliances into food preparation configuration. Deployment and storage of the kitchen requires four men less than 3 hours to perform.

The kitchen includes a pressure regulator that allows it to receive water from either a dedicated external water bladder or from a municipal water hydrant. Electrical power can be provided from either land line or the mobile 150kW diesel generator set provided with the IDK. It is truck, air, rail, and sea lift transportable and disigned to operate in all weather conditions and temperature ranges from -25 to +120 farenheit
